Quattro Gastronomia Italiana: Lincoln Road’s Italian Gem

Quattro Gastronomia Italiana: Lincoln Road’s Italian Gem

Since KNR Restaurant Group opened Quattro Gastronomia Italiana in summer 2006, the romantic 170-seat indoor/outdoor eatery has become a Miami Beach staple for visitors and locals alike. Transporting the decadent flavors of Northern Italy to South Beach’s bustling Lincoln Road by way of Alessandria born and raised identical twin chefs Nicola and Fabrizio Carro, the celeb frequented hotspot combines authentic cuisine, beautiful wines and enchanting décor, to create an Italian trattoria that feels plucked from the streets of Alba.

The talented twin chefs work on their menus together, and bring to the table extensive expertise in the creation of perfect pastas and other regional dishes and a light touch that is ideal for the magic city’s warm weather and people. Natives of Alessandria in the Piemonte region – known for its fine cheeses such as Robiola, Caprini and Tumin, porcini and exotic white truffle mushrooms, hearty local game dishes, and revered Asti and Barolo wines – the chefs look to the culinary traditions of their homeland for inspiration.

The Piemonte influence is evident in dishes such as the Fonduta Tartufata con Crostini – a rich and comforting fontina cheese fondue with poached egg, shaved truffles and perfectly toasted Biova croutons – a selection from the special white truffle menu offered mid-October through December, when truffles are in season. Dishes on their regular menu that pay homage to home includePreparazione Casalinga Dei Ravioli Di Casa Savoia Tartufati fontina ravioli drizzled with white truffle oil; or the Agnolotti Piemontesi Allo Stufatobraised beef ravioli with Piedmontese sauce.

As passionate as they are for the food of their home, the Carros are able to span several regional styles of Italian cuisine. Quattro’s sophisticated but earthy menu begins with over ten different types of antipasti ($13-$19) such as Parmigiana di Melanzane in Forma, baked organic eggplant layered with tomato sauce, melted mozzarella and basil; Vitello Tonnato Con Capperithinly sliced vealtopped with a creamy Favignana tuna sauce and capers; Polipo Del Mediterraneo su Tortino di Patate Prezzemolate, Mediterranean octopus with lemon dressing, served over potato and parsley salad; and of course Selezione Di Affettati Regionali Tipici Italiani E Sottaceti, a house selection of cured meats and Formaggi Italiani Con Le Nostre Mostarde, imported Italian cheeses with sweet and spicy jams. Insalate ($9-$14) include a delicious Insalata Di Rape Rosse, Mousse Di Carpa E Frisee – roasted baby beets with goat cheese mousse, frisée and red wine beet vinaigrette; and Insalata Di Lenticchie Cetrioli or lentil salad with tomatoes and red wine vinaigrette.

Primi Piatti ($18-$24), pastas made in-house daily in an imported La Monferrina™ machine rarely used in the United States, are a must-try with stellar selections including Chicche Tre Colori Con Salsa Di Burrata Pugliese – tri-color gnocchi with creamy burrata cheese sauce; Rigatoni Alla Boscaiolarigatoni with Parma ham, porcini mushrooms in tomato sauce with touch of cream; Ravioli Di mozzarella Di Bufala Con Pomodoro Fresco, Basilico E PinoliBuffalo mozzarella ravioli with fresh tomato, basil and pine nuts; andTagliolini Alla Puttanescatagliolini with tomato sauce, capers, anchovies, garlic, black olives and chili flakes. Imported Mediterranean seafood is the centerpiece of secondi ($25-$42) plates such as Branzino Intero In Crosta Di Sale MarinoMediterranean sea bass, baked in salt crust, with sautéed vegetables; and the Orata Al Cartoccio – Mediterranean sea bream filet, cooked in parchment paper with white wine, taggiasche olives and capers. Meat selections include Ossobuco Di Vitello In Gremolata Con Risotto Alla Milanesebraised veal ossobuco gremolata with saffron risotto; Saltimbocca Di Vitello Alla Romana Con Pisellini Novelli – seared veal scaloppini, topped with prosciutto and sage with green peas; and Battuta di Manzo alla Piastra con Rucola e Pomodorinipounded beef top round, lightly seasoned with garlic and chili flakes, with arugula and tomatoes, sautéed baby spinach with pine nuts.

Ending on a truly sweet note, desserts ($10), prepared by award-winning pastry chef Antonio Bachour, shine. Selections includeBomboloni Della Casa – made-to-order Italian doughnuts filled with vanilla custard, Nutella and apricot jelly; Panna Cotta Al Torrone E Gelato Al Pistacchio Italian nougat panna cotta, pistachio gelato and honey syrup; Pan Di Mele Con Zeppole warm apple brioche, gingerbread zeppole and caramel gelato; Monte Bianco Tradizionale chestnut puree, whipped cream and meringue and Crema Di Zucca Con Frutta D’autunno – creamy pumpkin custard, dried fruit marmellata and mascarpone crema.

Quattro’s handcrafted cocktails ($13) impeccably meld classic Italian drinks with subtle Miami flare. Alchemy Lychee Martini, a delicious mix of ginger Alchemy Vodka, lychee juice and a dash of Chambord; Quattrino with Aperol, Chardonnay Mila, Campari and fresh Florida grapefruit juice; and the Raspberry Chili Martini with vodka, fresh raspberry puree, apple juice and a dash of Gomme. They also feature classic Italian Prosecco cocktails ($14) such as a Sbagliato with Campari, sweet vermouth and Prosecco. An award-winning all-Italian wine list is hand-selected by partner Nicola Schon, who is also owner/vintner of Colle Manora vineyard in the countryside of the Monferrato. The wine list features the region’s most famous wines – the rich and complex Barolo, the dramatic Barbaresco, the rustic Barbera, and the dry, fruity Dolcetto – each of which pair perfectly with Quattro’s gutsy, flavorful dishes.

New York-based Studio A Design created Quattro’s dining room to feel like a sleek, contemporary power-dining spot, with a cool, comfortable charm. Seating 85, the room is outfitted in warm tawny browns and deep pine greens that are offset by striking custom Murano glass chandeliers suspended from antique mirrored coffers. Old World meets New World with imported Italian materials, such as the oversized banquettes covered in luxurious cognac-colored Italian leather with double-stitch detailing, and beautifully weathered original terrazzo floors. The focal part of the room is a stunning Calacatta marble bar with a brick-shaped mirrored back drop flanked by floor-to-ceiling wine towers that showcase their award-winning collection. A chrome library ladder slides freely between the towers. The al fresco dining area, also seating 85, offers the perfect spot along Lincoln Road to enjoy a leisurely, delicious meal and people watch amidst the beautiful South Florida weather.

Quattro, located on 1014 Lincoln Road, is open for lunch and dinner daily. For reservations, please call 305-531-4833, or visit www.quattromiami.com.

Press Release from WALLmiami’s Opening

WALLmiami Press Release

Miami Beach, FL – A throwback to carefree decadence, boutique lounge WALL at W South Beach has proven to be an impenetrably exclusive boite in the heart of South Beach. The Miami hotspot is a product of restaurateurs and nightlife impresarios Karim Masri, Nicola Siervo and Rony Seikaly, the masterminds behind KNR Group and projects including sought-after dining establishments such as Solea, Quattro Gastronomia Italiana and Sosta Pizzeria and Enoteca as well as nightclubs Mokai and Mynt. Part owners in the venture include director of nightlife Navin Chatani and W South Beach assistant food and beverage director Jarred Grant Straying from the traditional concepts of South Florida nightlife, the venue provides an intimate hideaway where celebrities and locals alike can relax and escape from the mayhem of South Beach.

“WALL is a smaller and intimate venue, a change for Miami Beach,” says owner Masri. “On any given night our clients come to find like-minded people, while locals come to find their friends. We offer versatility throughout our concept so that guests can determine their own experience.”

Get past the velvet ropes, walk through the beveled bronze doors, breeze past the champagne-swilling fashionable types and gaze upon the iconic interior design of Studio B’s Anna Busta. The gold-and- black motif radiates glamour and edge, and offers a layer of seduction by way of dark and textured walls. WALL’s unique and open design allows for a constant flow of club-goers and encourages dancing into the late morning hours. The central area features two signature gold leather couches arranged in easily accessible rows. The back bar displays feature large LED backlit picture frames made from mirror incorporating WALL’s signature diamond motif into the space. The DJ booth is optimally located in the center of the room facing the main bar. However, the “pièce de résistance” is the 35-inch spherical Raimond chandelier, an exquisite new creation from the Dutch design house Moooi. Designed by Raimond Puts for Moooi in the Netherlands, Moooi’s Raimond Light is a sparkling sphere containing hundreds of LED lights that will replace the central mirror disco ball. The intricate sphere of the Raimond Light transports the electrical current allowing the LED terminals to then join these paths to create an atmospheric ambiance.

The entirely VIP 4,000 square foot venue, nestled within the award-winning W South Beach, consistently attracts A-listers, jet-setters and nightlife aficionados from around the world, providing further reason for South Beach to be lauded as a top nightlife destination.

“What makes a club a ‘destination’ is the ownership behind it,” said co-owner Siervo. “You can put gold on the walls but if the team behind the club is not established, experienced and well-respected locally, it doesn’t stand a chance. Miami is our backyard and most of our clients are our friends and fellow industry insiders.”

Since opening in July 2009, WALL has been the choice venue for Miami’s most coveted events such as the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) Super Bowl XLIV party, hosting top A-list celebrities including Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Cameron Diaz, Alex Rodriguez, Carrie Underwood, Kate Walsh and more. Vito Schnabel, Stavros Niarchos and Alex Dellal’s Art Basel Miami fete placed WALL at the center of the art and design world. The lounge also hosted HBO’s “Entourage” premiere after-party and consistently draws top DJ’s and athletes such as Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, Derek Jeter, Reggie Bush and Dwyane Wade – who celebrated his birthday at the famed lounge alongside team members Lebron James and Chris Bosh.

QuattroMiami Participates in Miami Spice

It is hard to imagine, but the Summer season is coming to a close. For the locals it feels like an endless summer due to Miami’s sub-tropcial weather.  Although, a quick glance to the calendar indicates that we are inching closer to the Autumnal Equinox. With the end of Summer comes Miami Spice, a celebration of Miami’s passion for food and life! Quattro is excited to participate in Miami Spice 2014 so we can showcase our restaurant for the lifeblood of our city, the local gastronome.

Quattro was established in the heart of South Beach on Lincoln Road Mall in 2006.  Since day one of our opening we have kept on-point with our mantra, authentic Italian cuisine by using the finest of ingredients. Miami Spice first started in Miami in 2002 inspired by the success of New York City’s Restaurant Week. When Miami Spice began, a total of 54 restaurants from the Miami metro participated in the celebration. Fast forward to 2014, and Quattro is one of the 131 restaurants participating in Spice. The Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau have stated that they are happy with the number of participants. According to an interview with Steve Haas, the current number of participating restaurants is perfect. QuattroMiami_Spice_2014

“I don’t want every restaurant in Miami to participate. I want the number manageable with great restaurants that provide a good value.” Steve Haas Chairman of the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.

A few consumers may not be aware that not every restaurant is chosen to participate in Miami Spice. The first requirement in order to be considered for Miami Spice is to have a good Zagat rating. Next, the fixed Spice menu the restaurant proposes must present value to the consumer as the prices are fixed at $23 for lunch or $39 for dinner. One last thing, the restaurant also is visited anonymously by one of the deciding members. This way they can receive a true experience the restaurant will offer as Miami Spice participant.

Quattro Miami is more than happy to participate in Miami Spice 2014! This will be our sixth year participating in the culinary celebration. If you would like to learn more about our 2014 offering, click here for our lunch menu, and click here for our dinner menu. We look forward to hosting you for a great dining experience.
